Most helpful customer reviews on Amazon. Wonderful world of wizards, dragons, elves, and humans. Well-developed characters, settings, and plots suitable for nearly all ages.
Great young protagonists who suffer and survive coming of age with the help of the wisdom of ancient dragons. Good blend of fantasy and the reality of different cultures sharing limited space and how they resolve their differences only to find they have more similarities than differences.
Highly recommend as both retired middle school teacher and avid reader. The ending of the third book is horrible. At the risk of revealing spoilers, the main character is forced to abandon his magic, his friends, and the dragons to fix a problem caused by some absurd MacGuffin.

He is a young wizard who was given some sort of family name or similar that lets him use magic. Supposedly, this isn't even a problem, but at the end of the third book, it's revealed that his pathetic mother hid his heritage meaning the name abruptly causes his magic to malfunction AND destroyed the relic they need, to boot. The malfunction breaks the walls of the dragons' home, which will shortly let the bad dragons destroy them. So he leaves and seals the door from the outside, destroying ALL magic and his own, since the dragons' home is the source.

His friends and the dragons stay behind, of course. They will also never find his universe again either, since they can't target the doorways or even rebuild them due to lost knowledge. I liked it but the transition from one book to the next was a bit disorientating it wasn't smooth. Because of this I had to figure out where the story was at. I bought the triolgy and read it straight through but was still confused about the characters at times.
It,s an enjoyable read if you have the time, and these books are better edited than many others. Get to Know Us. Shadow Hunters (Dragon Valley Book 2) eBook: Linda McNabb: www.juraa.com: Kindle Store
I've read other books by Linda McNabb that were connected to this series first. This book actually should be read first if one wants to read them in order, but that doesn't seem to detract from the story or the "dragon" series. Linda builds her characters with expert precision, and they are able to make the transition from one novel to another without any problem.
I'm a sucker for a good fantasy, and this is a nice fantasy series! You can't go wrong with this book, and I think you will enjoy it thoroughly. I know you will want to read the rest of her books in this series! One person found this helpful.

Linda is an excellent author. All of her books including this one have grabbed my attention from the very beginning. Everything in this book fits and not one word is wasted. Wonderful to read an author who works so hard to have different species work together. Wish the congress in the USA could do as well.
